Remember Her???

I swear that Mikah models his personality after Shreeky. Not good on so many levels.

Before I Know it

Before I know it Lukas will be 1.

I've been through this child rearing thing a couple of times already but I'm still amazed at just how fast the times goes. Wasn't it just yesterday that he was a mewling newborn that everyone peeked at because he was so small? I guess not because tonight he did this for the first time...

I'm so proud and so distraught at the same time.

Pastry Chef

Alek and I were baking. I've trained him early and he's been my trusty, handy assistant since he was old enough to stand on a chair and lick off the beaters. This time he helped me with raspberry pies. We like to do things with a creative flair around here so he used cookie cutters to help decorate the top of the pie. We couldn't agree on just what the shape was though...

I thought it was a seahorse

but Alek was convinced it was a squirrel

In the end it didn't matter, the pie tasted so good that I don't think anyone paid any attention to what was on the top of it.

I Think I Fixed It

I think I figured out how to change my settings so that you can leave a comment without having a Google account. I know that's been a limiting factor for most of you readers ;)

And I Thought I Loved My Crockpot

As I was browsing around tonight I came across a link to this woman's blog. She is cooking something in her crockpot everyday - for a year! I couldn't even make it baking something everyday for a week.

I'm always on the hunt for exciting crockpot recipes and her blog looks like a winner. I can't wait to try out some of her recipes, and check out her whole blog.

I'll be honest, she had me at Tapioca Pudding.

Thank you Carmen and Calvin!

Alek and I went raspberry raiding tonight and came home with enough for about 3 pies. Hmm, I wonder how many will be left when I get up tomorrow morning???

I promised Alek that we would get busy and get those pies made for lunch. Here's praying that one of my pie crusts will finally work.

More Box Hilarity

Tonight Mikah was stumbling around in a pre-sleep daze and he lost his balance and ended up with his chubby little butt stuck in the empty Huggies wipes box.

Of course being the excellent parents we are we laughed until he worked his way free. If only I would have stopped laughing long enough to get the camera...

Going Ons

It's been a busy couple of weeks. Alek went camping with the g-parents and I took the other two to the cabin for a couple of days. Well, two days turned into 10 days and Lev had to come and drag us all home. It was nice being away; even if the weather was mostly crap. I guess we have to go again now and hope to meet up with nicer temps at some point.

Highlights of the trip;
  • both babies slept for about 11 hours straight each night;
  • Mikah discovered a love of boats;
  • Mikah also discovered a dislike for the taste of sand;
  • Alek grew enough to take his mom on a paddleboat ride (where he paddled);
  • Speedy the snail;
  • thunderstorms;
  • healthy competitions with the brother (I win, I win LOL);
  • fishing for the sake of peace and quiet in a boat.
Today I was busy sewing new baby slings. I found some lovely sage green knit and even had enough to make one for myself. Yay! Hopefully I'll post some pics soon. I'm trying to work up the courage to do an instructional video; it seems simpler in the long run.

Kisses

Mikah has finally figured out how to give kisses. Big sloppy wet kisses. Ah, bliss.

Today he was so busy trading kisses between his dad, Lukas and I that he got overloaded and started kissing his Leap Frog table. When he looked up he had the same embarrased look that the cat gets when he tries to jump over the gate, misses, and slides back down. It was too cute.

Poor Mikah. Poor Whiskers.

Feeling Boxed In

Once again I wonder why they have toys.

The Truth

Well, I've been tempted to lie about all of the baking that I've done, but they say that there is freedom in telling the truth so here it is...

I haven't baked a single thing since the banana muffins.

Hmm, I do feel a little better after admitting that. I've been too busy; it's been too hot; the kids drive me too crazy; the kitchen hasn't been clean enough; there's been too much laundry to do; blah blah, blah.

Eventually I'm just going to have to accept the fact that even when I try my hardest I am not super human. I must be a slow learner because that point is driven home to me every day and I haven't quite gotten it yet. Even after saying it out loud on here, there is still a part of me that doesn't believe it.

If I would just try a little harder I could accomplish so much more. Stupid self thoughts.
